What does GlobeFix do?
GlobeFix is a menu bar utility for macOS. It watches the Globe (Fn) key and switches the keyboard layout on every press, without the delay of the built-in system action and without taking the Fn key away from its other functions.
Why is switching layouts with the Globe key slow on macOS?
When the system action “Press key to change input source” is on, macOS waits to see whether the Globe key is the start of a shortcut such as Fn+F1. That wait is the pause you feel. GlobeFix detects the key release instead, so the layout changes immediately and Fn shortcuts keep working.
Does GlobeFix need Accessibility or Input Monitoring permissions?
No. GlobeFix asks for no system permissions at all. It does not intercept keystrokes: it reads the state of modifier keys and a counter of how many key events happened. A counter is a number, so the app cannot see what you type, even in principle. It runs inside the App Sandbox.
How much does GlobeFix cost?
Every feature is free for 14 days. After the trial, unlocking is a one-time purchase through the Mac App Store — there is no subscription. The purchase is tied to your Apple ID and works on all of your Macs.
Which Macs and keyboards does GlobeFix support?
macOS 13 or later. The keyboard has to report the Fn / Globe key to the system, which the built-in keyboard of a Mac laptop and Apple keyboards do. Third-party keyboards without an Fn key cannot trigger it.
Can each app have its own language?
Yes. GlobeFix remembers the active layout and its counterpart separately for each app — Russian and English in your browser, English and Ukrainian in your editor — and restores them when you switch windows.
What has to be set up after installing?
One system setting: in System Settings → Keyboard, the “Press key to” action has to be set to “Do Nothing”, otherwise macOS and GlobeFix both switch and the layout comes back. The app shows the exact steps with an animated diagram in your language.
